If you haven't been to the French Quarter in New Orleans, I suggest you add it to your bucket list. You don't have to go during Mardi Gras to experience true New Orleans. The views are endless, and fun is limitless, and the food is amazing.
The French Market
The French Market is hustling and bustling on the weekends, but is open 7 days a week! You'll find everything from food vendors, an oyster bar, clothes, souvenirs, unique art, and lots of handmade goodies. Right in the French Quarter, it's definitely a place to spend some time.
Sightseeing and Fun
From Bayou swamp tours, Riverwalk, and the historic French Quarter, there is something to see on every block of the city. You can visit the Cathedral, Jackson Square, endless bars on Bourbon Street, or live music on Frenchman Street, there is something for every age and taste of adventure.
Food. All the food.
One of the most important things to experience in NOLA is the food. You'll find southern favorites and New Orleans specialties. Gumbo, jambalaya, red beans (and rice), and raw or char-grilled oysters are a MUST. Saving the best for last, the Cafe du Monde beignets and french roast coffee are to die for. They're worth every calorie, but get there early or go on a weekday or the line could be a block long!
