Top Mexico Beach Escapes This Winter
by Carissa Hickok
Once the temperatures start to drop, it can seem to be as though a never-ending cold front is coming through. Perhaps in the heat of the summer, you were eagerly looking forward to cooler temperatures, forgetting about how irritating it can be to shovel snow. You probably forgot about how annoying it is to wake up in the morning and get into a freezing cold car. If you are having visions of something other than sugarplums, white snow and hot cocoa this winter, consider taking a trip to a place that you can visit in shorts or a sundress. Consider visiting a place in which you can relax by a pool in a bathing suit, even in January. Consider Mexico this winter.
Mexico has plenty to offer those who are in search of a beach escape when temperatures start to drop in the United States, and elsewhere in the world. You might find yourself with a craving to take a dip in a nice, warm pool in the sunshine. This is something you can do even in the middle of December or January if you are willing to venture out to beautiful Mexico. Have a look at some of the most popular beach escapes to visit in this part of the world:
Renowned for its fantastic nightlife, spectacular resorts and beautiful beaches, Cancun is situated on the Yucatan Peninsula and happens to be one of the most popular places to visit on the southeast coast. Whether you want to take a dip in the ocean or visit Mayan archaeological sites, you are sure to find something highly enjoyable to do. The warm white sand and crystal clear ocean water make this a place that can’t be missed.
Cozumel is a popular stop for cruise ships heading to the Caribbean Sea. From snorkeling to scuba diving, you are sure to find family-friendly activities to enjoy. If you’re visiting with a partner or friends, check out the jeep excursions which are typically offered for a great price, and cruise along the ocean. Or, get your water-proof camera ready to take photos of the coral reefs. The water is crystal clear, so there will be plenty of photo opportunities if you opt to visit Cozumel this winter.
Roughly 100 miles south of Playa del Carmen, many say Costa Maya feels comparable to its own private island. Uvero Beach is a unique spot to check out, but you might also be interested in seeing Mahahual, which is a fishing village. After a morning on the ocean, many opt to visit Mayan ruins to enjoy a bit of history. Take it easy in Costa Maya!
Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas is an area equally known for its beaches as it is for its striking rock formations. If you are looking for picture-perfect opportunities this winter in a place with warmer temperatures, be sure to visit Cabo San Lucas.
