With the New Year comes resolutions, and with resolutions often comes the desire to see new places (and to hit the gym, of course). There are so many places to check out in the United States alone. It is challenging to come up with a list of just some places to visit, but in order to take the first step towards an amazing vacation, one must come up with valid ideas. So, without further ado, here is my travel bucket list for 2017:
Georgia: This one might not sound like the most obvious destination to check out, but anyone who is looking for mild weather, affordability and picturesque views will surely appreciate Georgia. From Senoia (the primary filming location of The Walking Dead) to Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge in Dawsonville, there is so much to see and take in. The thought of lounging around in an Adirondack chair at the top of a mountain with a hot cup of tea sounds extremely appealing, and this is something that can be done in several hilly sections of the state. The thought of hiking to the top of a waterfall in an 829 acre state park (Amicalola Falls State Park) sounds like one incredible work out. Yes, Georgia is a state that should be checked out in 2017!
Grand Canyon, Arizona: If there is one place in the United States that would make a person speechless, it is the Grand Canyon. It seems to be an excellent place to visit at just about any time of the year. Even in the winter when snow is falling, there are plenty of photo opportunities (of course, it might make hiking a bit more challenging). The summer tends to get crowded, but anyone would be able to find their own slice of isolated paradise in this huge area. Surely, the Grand Canyon is a must-see!
New York City: There is something for everyone in NYC – plenty of bars for college students, Broadway productions such as The Lion King and Phantom of the Opera for those young and old to enjoy, world-class dining, Central Park and of course, first-class comedy shows. Visiting a place like Times Square might be a bit hectic on a night such as New Year’s Eve, but traveling at the right time of year can surely prove to be phenomenal.
Lake Tahoe, California: Mountainous views, scenic spots to take photos around the lake, tasty brunch locations and excellent biking trails make Lake Tahoe a great spot to visit for those who love the outdoors. It looks absolutely spectacular, and there is so much to do there. Four wheeling down the Rubicon Trail is a popular activity. Horseback riding along scenic trails is another family-friendly excursion to partake in. Who wouldn’t want to visit Lake Tahoe?
These are just some of the places on my travel bucket list for the New Year. Here’s to hoping everyone is able to get out and see someplace new this year!
