Fall is here! It is hard to believe that it's September and the kids are back in school. Soon the air will take on the crisp and delicious quality that only fall air has. Summer seems to get all the love, when in reality most people will admit to enjoying fall more. So, I am here to sing the praises of autumn. Here are our favorite things about fall.
Fall is like a breath of fresh air after the stifling humidity of summer. It is a time to turn off the air conditioning and crack open the windows. Plus, hot drinks and food! We can eat soup again! Nothing tastes better than a steaming mug of coffee when it's chilly outside.
Fall clothes. Comfy sweaters, boots and leggings return. Swimsuits begone! My favorite boyfriend jeans are screaming to be returned to the weekly line-up. (Plus, you don't have to shave as often.)
Bring on the crockpot! Rich, fall food makes the whole house smell good and takes advantage of the fresh, local foods. Foods like squash, chili, and pot roast can once more find their way onto the weekly menu. Roadside stands and pumpkin patches sell fresh apples and apple cider. Yum!
Back to School! How can you list the benefits of fall without including the back to school? No matter how much you love you kids, be honest, more of us are ready for them to go! School Parents can breathe again! The smell of fresh crayons and new school clothes always reminds us of fall. Plus, no more bored kids hanging around the house. Meet their new teachers, seeing old friends, and riding the yellow bus is a highlight for kids every year.
Football Season. Whether you favor tailgating at a NFL game or like to sit bundled up on the bleachers at the local high school, football is the ultimate American pastime. What's better than sipping hot chocolate while cheering for your favorite team?
Red. Orange. Yellow. Fall brings it own palette of beautiful colors. They are given to us through the beautiful change of the leaves, ripe pumpkins, and golden sunflowers. From food, to cozy sweaters, they color our fall cuisine and wardrobe.
