Get ready for fireworks, potlucks, and parties! It is the biggest holiday of the summer. When we celebrate our Independence Day here in America, we like to do it big. We want to shout about the blessings that come with freedom and remember those who sacrificed to provide us with that freedom and we want to celebrate our nation’s birthday in style. HopSkipJumpPaper has a collection of fun ideas that will help you make a BANG at this year’s 4th of July celebration.
HopSkipJumpPaper has gathered some great ideas for decorations of all levels. Whether you want to buy readymade decorations or spend the weekend being crafty there is something to please everyone on our fourth July Pinterest board.
For the crafty folks out there collect your mason jars, wood scraps, and burlap for rustic homemade decorations perfect for the front porch or back patio. Use mason jars layered with rice dyed blue and red and undyed to hold a tea light for perfect path liners or accent lights. Or spray paint mason jars red white and blue with a star cutout taped on to create unique candle holder to hang from trees or set on a deck ledge. Burlap can be hot glued and painted to make simple pillow cases to go on the patio pillows you already have. Or you can use burlap to make a fun patriotic garland to hang from your deck railing to celebrate the Fourth. Paint them with a flag design, stars, stripes or an combination of patriotic style. Use wood scraps to make flags of all shapes and sizes for you home. Create large pallet flags for the front porch or small block flags for an end table.
For those of you who do not feel like getting your hands dirty or simple do not have the time to be creative there are some super fun store bought decorating options for you as well. Stop in at Pier 1 for patriotic lanterns to light the night. Since they run on batteries and not candles they are safe to hang or set anywhere. Get a flag that will light up the night. The Christmas light inspired American Flag decoration from Pool and Patio.com makes a great window decoration for any house or apartment.
You cannot have a Fourth July party without serving patriotic foods. It is against the law…so maybe not quite. But fun foods served in the colors and shape of the flag add fun and whimsy to any party. Watermelon looks great when you cut it into stars and serve it alongside bright blueberries in a patriotic fruit salad. Check out some of the creative drink ideas that add patriotic flair to even the colors of the drinks you serve. Bundle some red licorice in patriotic napkin rings and set them out for a simple firework munchy. Serve popcorn out of a decorated bushel basket for folks to help themselves to while they watch the fireworks as well. Create patriotic strawberry cheesecake bites to serve as a sweet appetizer while the grill master works his magic.
